Elaine M. Gibson, baby boomer and free-range child of the 50's, has been teaching in formal and informal education for over 40 years. The last three years have been spent developing inquiry-based curriculum and training docents for the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History's school programs. During this time, she discovered first hand the disconnect that has happened between children and the natural world. Ms. Gibson has turned the education program at the Museum inside out, literally. The Museum is now leading a community wide coalition to reconnect children to nature. As grandparents, she and her husband are dedicated to the movement to get kids outside.
